The Mystery at Rosebud Manor
Rocks and stones, they broke her bones… but who’ll go tumbling after?
St. Casis, California, 1942
The gala is almost underway at Rosebud Manor, the mansion perched atop the rocky cliffs over the Pacific Ocean. This yearly event brings the movers and shakers from all over the country, from both the entertainment world and the ever-changing world of politics. The gala is a fundraiser of sorts, with donations going to help underprivileged children around the globe.
But it will be the last gala of its kind at Rosebud Manor… The host, Miss Rosemary Bud of the Bud Shipping Company, has fallen to her death. Or was she pushed…?
For eighty years they'll ask, “Who Killed Rosemary Bud?”
After a career of solving cases and bringing criminals to heel, all that former PI Monica Wade wants is the peace and quiet of her home next the serene shores of the lake. She’s certainly not going to get hooked into doing “research” for a magazine on events eighty years in the past at St. Casis on California’s rocky coastline. Who could possibly be so concerned about the premature death of one heiress so long ago?
Maybe the heiress herself.
Persuaded by her best friend Andy Weston to at least check out the goings-on at Rosebud Manor at St. Casis, Monica finds more than either of them bargained for. Not only are the well-to-do families reluctant to talk about Rosemary Bud and “that night,” there is also a strange energy inside the old mansion.
It starts as a feeling, a sense of disquiet… the mist that settles around the old fishpond. It will end with Monica and Andy’s strangest adventure yet as they seek to finally uncover what happened in 1942 and answer the question of why Rosemary Bud’s life was ended so unexpectedly.
In the last entry in this cozy mystery series, Monica Wade takes on a case of ghastly and ghostly complexity!
“Brings the series to a satisfying close.”
